May Updates: The Friends of the Library

Plants, tote bags, quilts and more! It’s a busy time for the Friends and we’re excited to hear from you.

Spring Plant Sale: May 18

We’re teaming up with the Massabesic Garden Club for our annual Spring Plant Sale on May 18 at the Library. In addition to having veggie plants, perennials, and annuals, this year will have some new offerings including local honey from Busy Beez and heirloom seeds. There will be a kids table where your gardeners can pick a mug and pot their own flower.

To help us have a successful event, we’re currently looking for:

  • Donations of new or gently used garden related books, garden statuary, gardening supplies/tools, pots, etc.
  • Perennial donations (Please label the plant type)
    • Can be dropped off at the library on Thursday, 5/16 or Friday 5/17

OR A member of our digging committee will be happy to come to get your plants or dig them up. If interested call Jess Traynor at (603)505-2359.

March Updates: The Friends of the Library

As the days start to get longer (and maybe even warmer!), we hope you have a wonderful month!

Vote Yes on Article 20
When you head to the polls on March 12, we hope you will support Warrant Article 20 to establish a
Library Expansion and Community Center Capital Reserve Fund. This article is recommended by both
the Board of Selectmen and the Budget Committee.

Over the years, as Auburn has grown, our library’s programs and services have outgrown the physical
space of the current building. Approving Article 20 is a critical first step in the necessary library
expansion.

New Museum Passes
As part of our goal to make 2024 a record-breaking year for pass usage, we’re thrilled to now offer
library patrons a new pass to the Zoo of New England! This pass includes the following two zoos, both
of which are open year-round with hours varying by season:

  • Franklin Park Zoo (Boston, MA): The 72-acre zoo is home to animals from around the globe
including gorillas, zebras, giraffes, tigers, lions, and more.
  • Stone Zoo (Stoneham, MA): The 26-acre zoo is home to incredible animals, including snow
leopards, flamingos, black bear, Mexican gray wolves, North American river otters, and more.

Coming soon: A pass to the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire in Dover, NH! The Museum offers
two floors of unique, interactive, hands-on exhibits for ages 0-12 to explore nature, STEM, pretend play,
art, world cultures, and more.

Creative Bug
The Friends are thrilled to fund a membership to Creativebug, an easy-to-use, high-quality online art
and craft education resource. The membership offers unlimited access to “1000+ award-winning HD
instructional videos on drawing, painting, sewing, knitting, crochet, quilting, baking, holidays, parties,
and more.” All classes are taught by experts and new classes are added daily.

The sign-up information should be available on the library website in early March.
